Brother Knights,

So here it is, the end of the 2009-2010 fraternal year. So what have we done in these past months to serve council, church, youth, community and family?

Where council is concerned we’ve been good and paid our per capita dues to the state, supported the Supreme Council’s culture of life and Catholic advertising programs. We renewed our web hosting contract and web support software so Brother Larry LeBlanc can keep the website running. We also supported the State Council Granite State Ball with a program ad and purchase of tickets.  Finally, we helped defray the cost of the St John Vianney play arranged by the Diocese of Manchester.

Church support was given in the form of donations to the missionary servants of Haiti, donations to the RSVP program where we help support 2 seminarians and to the Mother Theresa Missionaries of Christ. We paid for the refurbishment of a new  .mixer/sound board now used by our parish music ministry. Flowers were purchased for the Roe v. Wade vigil and a wonderful meal was provided to break the fast. A yearbook ad was purchased in support of St Thomas Aquinas School. Manpower was donated to prepare for the St. Mark parish picnic and staff grills. And let us not forget weeks of Friday Lenten dinners.

iOur support of the community involves donations to the Londonderry Early Education Program, and NH Special Olympics. We supported the State kidney fund and State Council Charities. We helped pay for a pro-life billboard in Nashua. We donated money to Londonderry Comforts-Warm Homes to buy heating oil for those unable to and we made donations to St Jude food pantry and Sonshine Soup kitchen. A donation was made to Blind Lemon Aid to help homeless veterans. Closer to home we supported Fr. Thom’s ministry to the deaf by helping to defray his convention expenses and a donation was made to the St Mark Charitable Fund. Shipping of food packs to Back Pack Ministries in Appalachia was paid for by us and a donation to the Catholic War Veterans Monument Fund was also made.

Family service was accomplished through activities such as our recent Fisher Cats Outing were yours truly threw out one of 20 or 30 “first” pitches to a huge mascot with an enormous glove. We assisted in sales of CDs to help a former council member and St Mark music minister defray medical costs. Our putting green was a big hit with families last August during Old Home Day festivities where we also paraded and handed out tootsie rolls. We will repeat that again this August as well. We had knights visiting the sick, in particular Brian Ingalls who recently passed away. We also supported bereaving families of 4 members

deceased this year buy having Masses said for them.

Our youth were not forgotten as our council helped sponsor a basket ball free throw competition, and sponsored the Keep Christ in Christmas card sales by St Mark’s CYO which helped pay for practice time at the gym. And last but not least 3 scholarships in varying amounts are to be awarded from the Rosemarie R. Cox Memorial Scholarship .Fund this year.

All of the preceding was paid for with manpower that supported our fundraising via the Christmas tree sale, the fall Christian concert, Lenten dinners, tootsie roll drive, and old home day activities. I am certain I’ve missed something but I hope this helps you understand how much you’ve accomplished.

I am proud to be a part of this council as should all our members. You have served well. Please thank our Worthy Recorder Rich Flynn for his service to this council when you next see him as he steps down from office. And when we have our installation of officers, please consider attending the Mass and ceremony afterward. We will post an announcement in the parish bulletin. Now onto a little summer fun as we suspend general meetings for the summer but continue our planning meetings. GK Con’t on Pg-2
